On September 21 and 22 2019, the chateau de Montastruc in Perigord was opening to the public for the first time ever, exceptionally. It was such a success that we decided to open our doors again for the 2020 edition. On September 19 and 20 2020, about 900 visitors could access this extraordinary and hidden private site.

France-3 TV honored us with their presence and published a nice video (link) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAMZEeKGTr8&ab_channel=France3Nouvelle-Aquitaine

This year again, it with with great pleasure that we will open Montastruc for the 39th European Heritage days on September 18 and 19 2021.We will share our passion for our country house, the adventure we live as owners of a listed historical monument, and the challenges that come with it.

23 years ago, we initiated our restoration project. The great 1999 storm catalyzed our energies. We saved Montastruc from a certain ruin, but much remains to be done. Let us share this story with you…

We will welcome visitors ourselves. Some members of the reading club of Lamonzie-Montastruc will help us. Without them, this would be an impossible task. You will be surprised with their unmatched erudition.

Sanitary conditions impose some rules that will be followed according to regulations in force at the time. You will come to Montastruc with no appointment. Groups will be arranged in order of arrival and registration at the welcome desk organized in the higher courtyard.

Visit will be commented and guided and will start with a history of the place, presented in the “cour d’honneur”. It will continue with a section inside the chateau et will end-up with a tour of the fortress walls all the way to the cave and its venus… Visit is free of charge. It lasts 60 to 90 minutes. Tour is in French, however depending on number we may assemble a group to comment the tour in English.

Park your car into the large parking area, organized like every year to the back of the chateau, before the gate leading to the chateau.

We are very excited to welcome you then !
