The Castle
This large and noble family residence, listed and protected in its entirety as well as its grounds under the Historic Monuments of France, is offered for vacation rental by the week and can accommodate up to 20 people very comfortably.
The chateau is ideally located 11 kilometres from Bergerac and allows an easy access to the Dordogne main touristic attractions. Raised on a rock base overlooking the Caudeau valley and surrounded by a 20-hectare estate, the Chateau de Montastruc is partially surrounded by broad water ditches.
A drawbridge gives access to it. The fortress walls from XIIth and XIIIth centuries overhang the troglodytic habitats from the Vth century, and protect the buildings built successively from XIVth to XVIIIth century and deployed around the main courtyard.
The stables with their beautiful mansard roof date from the XVIIth century, the pigeon tower is from the XVIIIth century. The Château was entirely restored and offers modern comfort within an exceptional and authentic setting furnished with many family antiques.
The grounds include a 14m x 6m swimming pool set on a terrace dominating the site.

Château de Montastruc’s Vacation rental
The Château de Montastruc is a family historic place listed on the National inventory and protected by the French Ministry of Culture as a Historic Monument.
Hence Montastruc presents a relative fragility and calls for some conservatory obligations. We are happy to offer Montastruc for vacation rentals, while tenants are expected to respect this antic mansion so to enjoy fully its inimitable charm.
The château de Montastruc is offered in its entirety for rental, for a maximum of 20 people in residence. The premises and their equipment are made available for the duration of the rental. Rental is from Saturday after 5pm to the following Saturday before 10am. The château is rented by the week, from Saturday to Saturday. For any other period, please contact the owner.
The château also hosts weddings and receptions, for which some specific conditions are required.
Independent partners
The château is handed over clean on arrival, and the tenant leaves it clean.
Independent chefs and caterers working in the area can take care of the preparation and full service of meals and offer a variety of menu options during your stay, based on fresh products from the local market.
You agree their terms with them and pay them directly, outside the rental price.
Wedding & Reception at Château de Montastruc
The Château de Montastruc offers an exceptional setting for weddings and receptions. The total number in residence remains limited to 20, however cocktails and receptions can be held outside in the « cour d’honneur », and a reception brings together no more than 100 guests, including those in residence. Above 20 people on site, tables, chairs and tableware must be hired.
For 20 to 40 people, the former vaulted kitchens of the 18th century, in the château basements, can receive the guests.
Above 40 guests, a marquee in the forecourt and the hire of dry toilets are required, at the tenant’s expense. The marquee is set up by a hire firm established locally, and a dance floor can be installed under it. For any event that calls for a marquee and special arrangements, the help of a wedding planner to coordinate the details is possible and recommended, but not compulsory. Some British wedding planners who live in the area know Montastruc very well, and the owner can put you in touch with them on request.
Supplement
Weddings and large gatherings generate additional wear on a listed building. A flat supplement of 800 euros is therefore added to the weekly rental price. Setting up the reception and clearing away afterwards are the responsibility of the tenant and of the service providers they appoint.

The château de Montastruc is located to the west of Lamonzie-Montastruc on road D-21
It is easily accessible from the regional airports and by train and ideally located to reach the main places of interest of the Dordogne.

Many high-speed trains connect Paris to Bordeaux with short transfer correspondence to Bergerac. Total time 3 hours thirty minutes from Paris to Bergerac.
Bakeries, groceries, horse riding school, tennis courts are all within 300m to 5km – Open market of fresh products is set around the Notre-Dame church of Bergerac every Saturday.

Can Château de Montastruc be rented for less than a full week?
Château de Montastruc is rented by the week, from Saturday to Saturday, and several weeks can follow one another. For any other period, please contact the owner.
Where do the guests of a reception park?
Cars are parked in the meadow on the left, before the entrance to Château de Montastruc. That parking area is not paved. Vehicles and their contents stand there at their owner’s risk, and a separate insurance policy is asked for to cover that liability.
Does a wedding or a reception add a supplement to the rental price?
A flat supplement of 800 euros is added to the weekly price for the use of Château de Montastruc as a wedding or reception venue, for one day of the rental. A reception leaves additional wear on a listed monument, and this supplement covers it. Setting up the reception and clearing away afterwards fall to the tenant and to the independent providers they appoint.
Is an event planner required?
The help of an event planner, employed by the tenant, is possible and recommended, but not compulsory. Château de Montastruc provides the venue and organises none of the services of the day.
How does a wedding or reception day run?
The exact date is confirmed at least three months before the rental begins. For 20 to 40 people, the former kitchens in the basement can receive the guests; apart from them, the inside of Château de Montastruc stays for the use of those staying there. Above 40 guests, a marquee in the forecourt and the hire of dry toilets are required. The swimming pool is closed as soon as the guests arrive. Amplified music stops at half past midnight, and guests who are not staying leave before one in the morning.
